Prayers needed for Baby Cailey Anna!

On October 11, 2010, Baby Cailey Anna was born to Natalie and Greg Harman. She weighed in at 6 pounds 13 ounces. Cailey Anna was delivered at a birthing center and was not breathing when she was born. An ambulance was called and she was taken to a nearby hospital and then later transferred to another hospital that was better equipped for her. Her parents have so much faith in God. They are so very strong and inspiring.

Cailey began gasping for air on her own and had a good heartrate but was not responding. Supposedly she had a problem with her blood gases which causes a lack of oxygen resulting in damage to vital organs.

The hospital put Cailey on a cold treatment to prevent further swelling. They are concerned about damage to her brain. After 72 hours they slowly raised the temperature and performed an EEG and an MRI to test for brain activity. The results were not what we had hoped for. The tests showed severe damage in the back and sides of the brain and the stem. Cailey is still not moving or even trying to do simple tasks like breathing or clearing out her airway on her own. Her condition has not changed since she was rewarmed, she has stayed the same.

So now they wait. Wait for a miracle for this sweet baby girl. So all I ask is that you spare a prayer today that a miracle occurs for this faithful family.

So that whole stay at home mom thing...

Yeah...that aint going to happen. I received an offer for another position this morning within our company and I gladly accepted. I would have loved to stay home with Courtney for her first year but in this economy I couldn't give up a great paying job. So with the acceptance of a new position, which I will move into next Friday, I talked with Mike about what I want out of being a working mom.

I told him I didn't want to look back and realize that all I did was work and spent just a few hours a day with my daughter. I told him that if I am going to work so that we can enjoy things, then we really need to actually take the time to enjoy them. I don't want to blink and Courtney be a teenager and ask myself "what fun family things have we done together?". I don't want her to grow up and say "my parents always worked and we never did anything together as a family." So I asked that we plan at least one BIG family vacation a year. One that we can look back on and reminisce. "Remember the time we went to Disney World," Remember the cruise we took to Alaska?" Things like that. And he agreed.

This also means that I need to start looking for a new daycare since Court's babysitter is due with her 2nd baby in the next few months.

I leave you alone for 5 minutes...

Courtney got dropped off at home early today because her babysitter had a doctor's appointment. It was naptime and I could tell when she got here she was tired. So I take her out of the carseat, put her in her sleep sack and put her down in her crib. Thinking that she would just roll over to her side and fall fast asleep. Instead I hear her fussing a few minutes later and when I go in to check on her I see this...

Glad she decided to roll over when no one was looking.

4 months old!

I can't believe it is October. I'm really looking forward to this month. Court and I get to go home to California for a week (we'll also be traveling out to Arizona to visit my grandma and Court's GG) and then it's Halloween. Mike's mom is in the process of making Courtney a pumpkin costume. I can't wait to see it. We wont be going trick or treating but plan to go to a "Harvest Festival" at a local church to show her off. Courtney's 4 month appointment isn't until the 20th so we have a few weeks until her official "weigh in" and those pesky 4 month shots. I did do a weigh in with her at home 2 weeks ago and if our scale is right she was 14 pounds 4 ounces. I really never knew that babies gained that much weight so quickly. But then again, check out these 4 months photos we took and you can see she carries it in her cheeks and thighs. :)
